    Spring has arrived the flip flops are out the sun cream is at the ready. We have put together some fantastic ideas to really put a spring in your step this Bank holiday weekend. South Devon is an incredible place to be even more so when the sun is shining. In every direction, the sun is working its magic, glistening seas, rustling palm trees, warm sand between your toes as well as picture postcard sunsets. 

    “Avast ye” Brixham Pirate Festival is a chance to unleash your inner Jack Sparrow or Elizabeth Swan. Brixham is transformed into a swashbuckling festival of delights. Taking place from the 5th-7th  May take a course to Brixham harbour for the 10th anniversary spectacular. You will find two impressive Galleon ships docked in the Harbour taking pride of place at the heart of the festival. Brixham’s resident Ship the Golden Hind iconic in its own right and for the first time on UK shores the immense replica galleon, El Galleon, 5 decks of awe-inspiring Spanish galleon ship.All sorts of family-themed pirate escapades will be waiting for you, live music, street performers, street theatre, balloon modelling, historical re-enactments and fancy dress competitions are a few ways to unleash your inner pirate.  When the sun sets the festival really gets a rocking, bars lining the harbour, live music and a party atmosphere will get everyone yo ho hoing.     The Annual Bmad (Bikers making a difference festival) is in its 13th year and is one of the biggest gatherings of bikes in the southwest of England. Raising money for charities this event has a lot going for it! Paignton green comes alive over the weekend of the 5th-7th of May as thousands of bikers descend on the bay lining up along the promenade an event in itself. Live music showcasing some epic local talent on two stages, food stalls and flowing beer and cider, it’s the perfect way to enjoy Paignton beach at its best.    For further details visit

    Not wanting to venture too? You will be in luck this bank holiday weekend as Torquay hosts the OCR Powerboat race. Over the Bank Holiday weekend of May 5th and 6th Torquay will become home to more than 30 of Britain’s leading offshore racing teams. The Aqua Adrenaline Tour is on a return visit to the resort producing speeds of 70mph plus, Torquay is one of the longest established offshore race venues in Britain. Make your way over to the grandstand at Haldon pier situated close to Living Coasts, it won’t be too hard to find with the row of luxury powerboats lined up waiting to race. Or relax on the terrace at The Grand Hotel and watch them power across the bay while enjoying the sunshine and a nice cold beverage or maybe an Afternoon tea from our Lounge and brassiere.
