“WHY WAIT TILL CHRISTMAS TO GET DRESSED UP!”
Due to the overwhelming success of Torquay’s famous “Holy Ball”, the Grand Hotel is pleased to announce the launch of Torquay’s first annual Summer Ball.
The beautiful and elegant Grand Hotel is the perfect location to spend a warm summer evening, drinking Champaign, watching the sun set over Torbay and then dancing the night away.
So why wait until Christmas to dress up! This exclusive evening will take place on Saturday 14th June and will feature live entertainment. The dress code is evening dress for the ladies and black tie for the gentlemen.

It’s the weekend and its party time! Well, at least it is for all the guys and dolls attending this weekend’s wedding at The Grand Hotel. As the red carpet is rolled and we await the arrival of the bride and groom on the steps of the entrance there is always one comedian, or two, that attempt to drink the champagne set aside for the happy couple. The Roll’s purrs up, so let the games begin…
There is the usual debate as to which one of the management team is going to take up the honourable task of Master of Ceremonies. Obviously the GM is exempt, so it’s paper/ scissors/ stone between the Restaurant Manager and the Duty Manager. As usual, no need for the discussion really as the Duty Manager picks up the responsibility after taking a trip down “Guilt Lane”.
Corkage for the days drinking is mounting up – bottles of wine £5… bottles of sparkling wine £10… and the look on the DM’S face when the guests stumble out of the wedding breakfast at 5pm…PRICELESS! Obviously all under control though…(stumble out at 5pm – there is no indication of what time they started….)
Theparty moves into the boogie suite for the evening, where the chandelier is sparkling and by now the MC can’t let go of the microphone. There he is dominating the dance floor with his Big Bruce Forsyth Strictly Come Dancing Analysis of the first dance! In fact, we’re missing a microphone? Maybe he just couldn’t resist going home to show his mum his new found talent.
After an eventful day with the building still intact we advance to the next challenge…
Sunday breakfast and Sunday check out.
