DRAW BREATH WHILE YOU CAN!
Joleen’s diary 2.11.07
With the cold winter nights drawing in we had a warm surprise here at the Grand last night, a conference group that was here for 4 days arranged a Mexican Street Party!! Imagine 300 people drinking Tequila and Corona, eating tacos and fajitas whilst enjoying music from a Mexican band. It was brilliant and everyone enjoyed themselves – I just wish they hadn’t ‘lost’ my invite as I was dying to join in!
I’ve not been here long and things seem a little quiet here at The Grand, but I fear it is the calm before the storm. Christmas and New Year sales are going really well and I am told the hotel has a great atmosphere so no one minds being on duty! For added excitement we have the Santa Claus run on the seafront. The charity ‘Wish Upon a Star!’ has organised a 1.2 mile walk /run around the harbour and back again – sounds easy eh? The only catch is that you have to make your way around the harbour in a Santa Claus outfit. Trust me this is something that I have to see!
Weekend is here again, and I can’t wait to kick off my shoes and chill for a bit. Jacklyn (one of the many mums to be) is having twinges and it’s making me nervous. I’m taking over her role while she is on maternity leave and I’m grateful she is still here to get me up to speed. She is supposed to have 7 weeks to go but I’m starting to get worried she won’t last that long. I’ll just need to ensure she doesn’t get up from her chair and keeps her legs together!
