Who said that Christmas only comes once a year? Not at the Grand Hotel! On Wednesday 9th July Christmas came early when the Devonshire Suite played host to a Christmas Party in the middle of Summer.

Local businesses were invited to a ‘Taste of Christmas’ but none were prepared for what lay ahead. The day was spent preparing the room, the Christmas decorations were put up, the trees were brought out and the tables were dressed with party hats, crackers and streamers. Even the weather played ball and we were treated with a wet and cloudy day.

From 7.30pm the guests began to arrive and the evening started with a glass of Sparkling Wine with a dash of Cranberry. At 8pm Christmas dinner was served with Parsnip Soup, Roast Turkey with all the trimmings, Christmas Pudding and even Mince Pies to finish.

The wine flowed as did the conversation and everyone got in to the Christmas spirit. Even the Christmas songs playing in the background went down well. The evening wouldn’t have been the same without a visit from Santa and whilst coffee was served Santa handed out gifts to the ladies. After dinner the night continued with a disco until midnight in true Christmas Party style.

Everyone enjoyed themselves so much that they have all been ringing to book their own Christmas Parties with us – this time it will actually be at Christmas though.
