Our elegant, award-winning AA Rosette Restaurant 1881 is named after the year that The Grand was founded.
It offers a Table d’Hote menu that changes daily, which showcases Executive Head Chef Mark Brankin’s talent for fusing high quality local ingredients with superb flavours for an amazing culinary experience.
You’ll find dishes with influences from around the world, plus traditional British favourites (including ‘proper’ puddings) – all guaranteed to make your mouth water.
In addition to serving breakfast and dinner each day, “Restaurant 1881″ also offers our famous Sunday Lunch each week. This 3 course feast offers a selection of traditional roasts, including vegetarian options.
Christmas Day Lunch
We have a few places left of Christmas day lunch 1.30pm – 3pm, see the menu here Grand Hotel Christmas and New Year brochure but we are fully booked for dinner on 24th and 26th of December, unless you have pre-booked. Breakfast service is as normal.
Our 4-course Sunday lunches are popular with locals and visitors alike and always includes the tastiest Westcountry Rib Roast you’re likely to find, amongst other tempting options. Sunday lunch in 1881 restaurant only £14.95 for 4 courses.

The Kitchen Challenge
The Kitchen Challenge will take place on the first Wednesday of every month with a delicious fine dining experience of 3 courses for £29.95 per person. There will be no supplements added to any dish and the chefs have a free basket of what they can use, so you may well have some delightful dishes that you would normally have to pay extra for.
Under the supervision of Executive Chef Mark Brankin, two of our chefs with help from a team of juniors will battle it out for a chance to win a training trip to one of the most prestigious restaurants in the UK.
