at the Grand Hotel, Torquay

Night before, our brides are welcomed to stay in one of our two bedroomed suites the night before the big day. This allows perfect room for hair stylists and makeup artists to pamper her on the morning of her Torquay wedding. With an onsite restaurant for a pre-wedding day dinner with the family and a spa whom are more than happy to accommodate nails and a massage the night before.

Day of the wedding– Early morning wakeup call made by our reception team, breakfast delivered to your room. Crack open a bottle of champagne to share with the girls and enjoy all the attention a wedding day has to offer. Our in house wedding planner will arrive late morning, to talk through the beginning of your day.

Downstairs guests are being greeted by our wonderful reception and bar staff, whilst they eagerly await the arrival of the groom.

Once the groom has arrived, himself and best man are directed by the wedding planner to meet their registrars. The registrars confirm all spelling and readings that are to take place during the wedding ceremony.

The time has come, the groom and groomsmen take their place in the ceremony, whilst our in house wedding planner ushers the guests to the ceremony room to take their seats. Doors closed the wedding planner makes a phone call to the Bride to let her know we are ready for her.

The bride makes her way down the beautiful staircase to the foyer where she is greeted by the registrars and wedding planner. Once the registrars have confirmed all is correct on the wedding certificate they make their way into the ceremony room. The wedding planner aligns all the bridesmaid in order with the bride awaiting in the back. Prompting the bridal party down the aisle the wedding planner makes sure they are all holding there bouquets correctly and leaving enough space between each of them.

The wedding planner brings the bride into position of the door way, and rearranges the train on her dress and veil. This is then her moment to shine.

The wedding planner is present through the whole of the ceremony, in charge of the music at the back of the room.

In the foyer during the ceremony the bar staff are preparing their arrival drinks, once the ceremony is finished the bride and groom are greeted as a married couple by their wedding planner with a glass of well-deserved fizz.

Once the guests have vacated the ceremony room, the wedding planner hands the Bride & Groom over to their official photographer whom takes them and there congregation for photographs. Whilst these are taking place the wedding team serve canapes.

Back in the function room, the wedding planner and wedding team set about preparing their sit down meal, with crockery, glassware and linen. Table centrepieces and favours, this room is transformed into a fairy-tale wedding reception. Once the reception room is finished, the wedding planner will retrieve the Bride & Groom with their photographer to take pictures of the wedding reception complete. Once approval is given, all guests are ushered into the sit down to await he announcement of the new Mr & Mrs.

Once the Bride & Groom have entered, all guests sit down to a luxurious 3/4/5 course meal, with drinks served by the wedding team and champagne for the toast.

Once the  couple and their guests have finished there meal, they make their way back into the foyer, where guests will check into any rooms they have booked, and others freshen up, majority of woman deciding now is the time to put on flat shoes.

The wedding planner and her team then take to a quick clear down and turn around for the evening. The carpet that lay on the dancefloor is removed and any tables positioned on it during the meal are moved to the back. Fresh linen is reapplied. The DJ takes his place on the stage, lighting up an array of colours for their evening disco.

A short time of 30 minutes pass, and guests re-join the room with evening guests arriving thereafter.

The Bride & groom are greeted by the DJ and brought into the middle of the dancefloor to cut their cake. Once the cake is cut the wedding planner whips this off to the kitchen to be cut and served with the evening buffet. The DJ asking the Bride and Groom to take their place on the dancefloor for their first dance.

In the background the wonderful kitchen team are preparing their evening buffet, once ready the wedding planner will place this on their buffet table where the DJ will announce its ready.

The Bride & Groom along with their guests are left with the DJ to dance the night away. Our music license runs until midnight, where we can serve bacon baps as real british end to a wedding day

The Bride & Groom can then make their way to our beautiful bridal suite, where a complimentary bottle of fizz and homemade fudge await them.

The next morning, the Bride & Groom along with their guests make their way down to reception where they are greeted by our breakfasts host. A congratulatory glass of champagne is served (tea, coffee, orange juice also available) the morning ending with a personal phone call from the wedding planner, to wish them again a HUGE congratulation. A complimentary late check available for the enjoy a spa treatment together ending a perfect 3 day wedding.

This venue isn’t just for the day, it’s a second home….
